Legal practitioner and prominent member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwame Jantuah has challenged Assin South MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour to provide concrete evidence for his recent allegations involving drug trafficking and money laundering.
Rev. Fordjour had claimed that two questionable aircraft had landed at Kotoka International Airport, prompting former President John Dramani Mahama to encourage him to work with the National Security Team to validate his claims. Despite this directive, the MP reportedly failed to follow through.
The situation has sparked widespread debate, with many viewing the MP’s actions as an attempt to discredit the government. Matters escalated when operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau raided Rev. Fordjour’s residence on April 9, leading to further public scrutiny over the government’s response.
Speaking on the Weekly Review Segment of Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Mr. Jantuah criticized both the government’s handling of the issue and Rev. Fordjour’s approach.
“What I don’t understand is the fact that the president had already indicated a trajectory and in indicating that trajectory, he specified one person to work with the National Security, thus Ntim Fordjour, so what went wrong?” Jantuah questioned. “We then heard that he was talking on behalf of the Committee. Has the committee collaborated what he said? So what’s all the hulabaloo for? Because what Ntim Fordjour should be able to do is to show evidence, that’s all.”
He further questioned why the MP bypassed internal procedures, adding, “When he heard it, he’s a ranking member, he should’ve told his fellow ranking that ‘boy, I have this information, I think the committee should have a look at and see what we can do about it.’ If he couldn’t give his Committee the evidence, he has his party… ‘party leader, this is very sensitive information I have stumbled on, how do you think we should handle it?’”
Jantuah also raised concerns about Rev. Fordjour’s decision to go public without following due process: “But was he playing to the gallery when he then decided he will go on social media and have a press conference? I didn’t understand that thing.”
