Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has raised concerns over the lack of adequate street lighting in many areas of Ghana, highlighting the dangers it poses to nighttime road users.
Reflecting on his own accident in 2024, the artist underscored the need for drivers to ensure their vehicles are in optimal condition, particularly their lighting systems. He urged, “Before stepping out, it’s crucial to inspect your car’s lights. Without proper illumination on the roads, you could be in serious trouble if your car’s lights are faulty.”
Expressing his frustration, Kuami Eugene lamented, “It’s disheartening that so many of our roads remain in darkness due to the absence of streetlights. Drivers must make it a priority to check their lights before heading out.”
The singer also directed his message at reckless drivers, encouraging them to value their safety above all. “Your life is important. If you’re in a vehicle with someone speeding unnecessarily, speak up and ask them to slow down—there’s no need to rush as if you’re on a journey to heaven,” he advised.
Kuami Eugene’s remarks come as a cautionary reminder for road users to prioritize safety amidst challenging driving conditions.
