Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to God for His guidance and blessings in his life and the nation’s affairs. Speaking at the 31st Watch Night Service of the Light House Chapel in East Legon, Accra, where he was the Special Guest, the Vice President reflected on recent events, including the just-concluded elections, and shared his gratitude.
Extending New Year wishes to the congregation, Dr. Bawumia remarked, “Let me wish everybody a Happy New Year. Let’s wish for greater and better and greater tidings this New Year.” His words were met with enthusiastic applause.
He expressed his thanks to God for the electoral process and its outcomes, saying, “We have gone through an election, and I want to thank God for His blessings to myself and to the country, Ghana.”
Drawing from scripture, he emphasized the importance of gratitude in all circumstances. “The book of 1 Thessalonians, Chapter 5, Verse 18 tells us that in all things, give thanks to God. And for me, I have abiding faith in the Lord. And so what He has done for us, we are giving thanks to Him. I know and I believe that God has a plan for me for greater and better days in the future,” Dr. Bawumia affirmed.
Accompanied by his wife, Samira, the Vice President also acknowledged the warm welcome from the church’s founder, Bishop Dag Heward Mills, and the congregation. “I want to thank all of you for giving us the opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year. God bless you and God bless Ghana,” he stated.
Bishop Heward Mills expressed his joy at the Vice President’s visit, describing it as historic for the church. “I am happy to announce the presence of the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife,” he said to the cheering crowd. “This is the first time we are having a President or a Vice President. What a blessing.”
Dr. Bawumia concluded his address with well-wishes, inspiring hope and optimism for the year ahead.
