Afia Pokua, widely known as ‘Vim Lady,’ a prominent Ghanaian broadcaster, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to consider a “forgiveness tour” in the Ashanti Region after their major loss in the 2024 general elections.
The December 7, 2024 elections saw intense competition between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The NDC emerged victorious, securing a majority in parliament and clinching the presidency, even making inroads into the Ashanti Region, traditionally regarded as an NPP stronghold.
Reacting to the election results in a Facebook post, Vim Lady highlighted the message sent by Ashanti voters, calling on the NPP to not take their support for granted. She stated, “NPP must go on a forgiveness tour in the Ashanti Region. They sure gave them a massive showdown. You can’t take the people for granted.”
In the aftermath, the Electoral Commission of Ghana declared John Dramani Mahama as the president-elect of the country, having garnered 6,328,397 votes, which accounts for 56.55% of the total votes cast.
