Prophet Kofi Oduro, the founder of Alabaster International Ministries and a vocal critic of the Akufo-Addo administration, has commented on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 elections.
In a recent sermon, Prophet Oduro attributed the loss to divine intervention, describing it as a consequence of the ruling party’s disregard for divine guidance and the grievances of the populace. He noted that the party often perceived critics, including himself, as adversaries rather than well-meaning individuals.
“For almost eight years, this voice has been speaking, and you thought we were against you,” he remarked. Reflecting on constituencies historically dominated by the NPP now flipping to the opposition, he said, “I look at constituencies that have never been held by the NDC, but for the first time, they’ve been occupied by the NDC. This is God’s work.”
The preacher urged the party to introspect and acknowledge their shortcomings during their time in power. “Sit down and reflect. What went wrong? Ask yourself: Was I too proud? Too arrogant? Too complacent? Too laid-back? Too pompous? God is giving you another chance,” he advised.
Prophet Oduro also pointed to the loss of prominent MPs as a clear signal of divine correction. “If God is reprimanding and rebuking you, take it in good faith. Those he loves, he rebukes,” he said.
On John Dramani Mahama’s victory, Prophet Oduro addressed the backlash surrounding the outcome, asserting, “I hear people analysing and claiming he didn’t deserve the victory, but it’s God who decides.”
He concluded by reminding the NPP that criticism often stems from a desire to guide, not to harm. “When I was here trying to correct people, they thought I was the enemy. But now that you are in opposition, weeping in your homes, you will know I wasn’t the enemy. I had your best interest at heart.”
