The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to former President John Dramani Mahama following his triumph in the 2024 presidential election.
In his message, Speaker Bagbin emphasized that Mahama’s victory is a strong testament to Ghana’s dedication to upholding democratic values. He stated, “Today, we celebrate not just a victory, but a reaffirmation of our democratic principles.”
The Speaker further expressed confidence in Mahama’s leadership, affirming, “John Mahama’s win is an affirmation of the will of the people, and I am confident that he will lead Ghana towards greater prosperity and inclusivity.”
Speaker Bagbin also urged Ghanaians to unite in supporting the newly elected president in the task of nation-building. “It is now our collective responsibility to support him in the task of nation-building. Together, we can work towards addressing the challenges that lie ahead and ensure that every citizen feels the impact of good governance,” he added.
The Electoral Commission officially declared John Dramani Mahama the winner of the December 7, 2024, presidential race on December 9, 2024. Mahama secured 56.55% of the total valid votes, surpassing his closest rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party, who garnered 41.61%.
